Video Description
IS-IS: Intermediate System to Intermediate System Routing protocol
Standard protocol developed by ISO for CLNS networks
RFC 1195: Use of OSI IS-IS for Routing in TCP/IP and Dual Environments
Encapsulated directly over data-link frames
Uses CLNS addressing scheme: NSAP
Link-State Protocol
Dijkstra (SPF) algorithm
Uses adjacencies to exchange information
The messages (hello/LSP/PSNP/CSNP) from each router arrive to all of the devices in the area:
Messages are stored in the LSDB
Each router has a full picture of the network topology
Metric based on the interface cost
Widely used protocol in the SP cores.
